Canon 7D Mark II Not Coming in 2013?
The latest in a long line of rumors concerning the Canon 7D Mark II puts the camera’s delivery beyond this calendar year and into 2014. That would put the original Canon 7D (it was announced in Sept. 2009) well past the 4-year mark if/when the 7D Mark II is announced in 2014. Much longer and we’ll need to start looking into kindergarten programs for the 7D…
Additionally, the Canon 70D is supposedly the only other Canon DSLR that is going to arrive this year; however, there are rumors from “good sources” that put several new lenses coming in 2013. Could the EF 28-300mm and EF 100-400mm lenses be among those new offerings?

Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Replacements in the Works?
Canon has been feeling out certain users’ thoughts for replacements to the EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lenses. One of the common complaints of the two lenses is the push-pull zoom design, which leads them to be regarded as “dust suckers.” Additionally, the lenses are rather slow at the long end of the zoom at f/5.6; however, that allows them to remain compact in spite of their long zoom range. Magic Lantern Brings 14-bit RAW 2K Video to 5D Mark II and 5D Mark III

Luke Neumann shows 14 bit RAW Cinema DNG before (left) and after (right) (via Planet5D)
It is simply amazing what the Magic Lantern guys keep squeezing out of Canon’s DSLRs.
Now, they have managed to get 14-bit RAW DNG files captured without the mirror dropping or shutter closing between frames. This further paved the way for RAW video that is currently running at 10fps; however, they expect to reach 24fps based on the developments they have seen thus far. This could be huge for Canon 5D Mark II and 5D Mark III shooters. [Read more…]
