Un Mensaje de Chile

March 6, 2011 By Eric Reagan

A quick "vintage" conversion processed on the new site MakeRetro.com.

You may have noticed that posting has been a little light over the past few days here on Photography Bay.  Internet access has been a bit spotty over the past few days as I have traveled to and through Chile.  I have volunteered to document a scouting trip for Global Infusion, which currently has no presence here in Chile.  Aside from a day-trip into Ontario, this is my first time outside of the US.

What I’ve seen thus far is a beautiful country, along with beautiful people and culture.  However, there are still many difficulties for the people here. [Read more…]

Hey Designers, Check Out the Kick Awesome Show

November 6, 2010 By Eric Reagan

This really doesn’t have much to do with photography, but those of you who are designers will likely enjoy my pals Nate and Jonathan’s Kick Awesome Show. In a rather weak attempt to work in a photography angle, they’re shooting the show on a Rebel T2i.

The latest episode is embedded above, and you can see all the episodes and subscribe for new episodes at KickAwesome.tv.  Lots of fun guys. Good stuff.

1922 Kodachrome Film Test in Color

September 4, 2010 By Eric Reagan

This little film test from Kodak is a sample of some of the earliest color motion picture film.  For some reason, I couldn’t help but smile as I watched it.

“First tests on the Two-Color Kodachrome Process were begun in late 1914. Shot with a dual-lens camera, the process recorded filtered images on black/white negative stock, then made black/white separation positives. The final prints were actually produced by bleaching and tanning a double-coated duplicate negative (made from the positive separations), then dyeing the emulsion green/blue on one side and red on the other. Combined they created a rather ethereal palette of hues.”

Olympus Stylus Tough 3000

January 7, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Olympus Stylus Tough 3000

Introduced at CES 2010, the Olympus Stylus Tough 3000 is the latest update to Olympus’ deathproof line of cameras.

It’s got a 3.6x zoom, 12MP sensor, shoots 720p video and offers Image Stabilization built-in.  The Touch 3000 can withstand 5 foot drops, can be submerged in water up to 10 feet.  It can also deal with cold weather down to -14 degrees and can be eaten by polar bears and still come out firing.  While the polar bear part doesn’t come from Olympus’ press conference, I’m pretty sure that it’s capable after some hands-on time.

The Tough 3000 should be available in February 2010 and carries an initial retail price of $229.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

More details in the press release below. [Read more…]

What I Want for Christmas and Why…

December 19, 2009 By Eric Reagan

This post is a little further off-topic than I usually stray; however, it’s the weekend and I thought it might be fun to share my wish list with all of you, and maybe you can do the same in the comments.  Obviously, these items are subject to my personal taste and preferences, so take all of this with a grain of salt.  If you’re looking for some meaningful photography content, just skip this altogether.
