Joby Launches GPod Mini Magnetic and MPod Mini Stand

Joby has just released a couple of cool new miniature tripods. The GPod Mini Magnetic is an ultra-compact Gorillapod with magnetic feet. It is designed for use with compact cameras and action cameras such as the GoPro. It has a standard 1/4″-20 tripod mount and runs $15. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

The new MPod Mini Stand is a compact smartphone stand. It works with iPhones, Android and other smartphones with or without cases. the MPod Mini Stand clamps your phone in place from the sides and uses elastic bands to hold it tight. The latest rumors on the Canon medium format camera suggest that Canon will hold off unveiling a medium format camera until Photokina 2014. The reasoning in the rumors is that Canon does not want to launch until there are enough products in the line to unveil a complete system – with the intent to have a “show stealing” announcement at Photokina 2014 next September. IndiSYSTEM has released its new AIR3 cage for HDSLR cameras starting at $99 for the basic version. Adding longer rods, handles and other accessories puts the top end unit at $179.

While it is not as fancy as other HDSLR cages on the market, there appears to be plenty of holes on the top plate for mounting accessories. It also seems to be quite sturdy from the looks of the below video where they set a car on top of four cages. [Read more…]

Rokinon 16mm T2.2 Cine Lens Now Available for Pre-Order

The new Rokinon T2.2 cine lens is available for pre-order for $529. Like other Rokinon cine lenses, the 16mm T2.2 lens features standard gearing for both focus and iris rings. The aperture is de-clicked for smooth aperture adjustments and includes depth of field markings on the lens barrel.

The Rokinon 16mm T2.2 cine lens is built for APS-C and smaller sensors, and is available for Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E, Sony A and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
