Canon 6D Full Frame DSLR Due in October?
The lastest rumors of Canon’s lower-priced full frame DSLR suggests a Canon EOS 6D badge and an October unveiling date. Additional rumors emphasize that the focus is on making the full frame camera not only more affordable but also a smaller overall package.
Previous rumors suggested this camera would essentially work out to be a full frame version of the Canon 7D with a 22MP CMOS sensor and a sub-$2000 price point.
Canon 6D Rumored Specs
- 7D style AF system (19 pt) and VF LCD
- 7D metering
- Single Digic 5+
- 3.9 fps
- 3 inch LCD
- 51200 max ISO
- sub – $2000 price point at introduction
All of these rumors appear to be leading up to yet another massive throwdown between Canon’s budget full frame shooter and the Nikon D600. Expect more coverage on the Canon 6D (or whatever it ends up being named) as we creep up on Photokina 2012 and PhotoPlus 2012.

More Canon Low-End Full Frame DSLR Rumors
Northlight Images has received some new information concerning a cheaper full frame Canon DSLR. Rumors suggest either an 18MP sensor or a 22MP sensor, which leads to further speculation of a repurposed Canon 1D X or Canon 5D Mark III sensor, respectively.
Additional specs make the new model look a lot more like a full frame iteration of the Canon 7D, as opposed to the 5D Mark III. A smaller overall body design with a built-in flash would make it more of a prosumer design.

New Canon DSLR on August 26
According to Kamera & Bild, who claims to have notice of the press conference, Canon will be dropping the bombshell on August 26th. The only question is whether the new EOS will be the Canon 3D, 5D Mark II, 6D, 7D or some other model (or two).
Photography Bay will stay on top of the news and rumors to the bitter end and beyond. Stay tuned.
Canon EOS 3D & 6D Rumors Continue
Word is on the street that Canon is about to drop a couple of big cameras as a replacement to the heralded EOS 5D. While we surely expect some kind of new-fangled DSLR to replace the Canon 5D at Photokina 2008, Canon is mum on confirming any of these rumors. The working names that the rumors fly under are Canon EOS 3D and EOS 6D. The rumored specs are as follows:
Canon EOS 3D (unknown model name)
[I would actually think these specs fit a 5D Mark II or 6D. -Ed.]
Resolution: 14mp Full Frame
FPS: 5fps
LCD:3″
AF: 9 point
ISO: 100-3200
Memory Card: CF & SD
Proc: DIGIC III
Sealing: Some (40D)
Feature: Live View w/AF
Price: $1999 USD
Canon EOS 6D(unknown model name)
[Likewise, I think these specs are more closely aligned with a “3D” model. -Ed.]
Resolution: 20mp Full Frame (Sounds unbelievable, but true)
FPS: 5fps
LCD: 3″ VGA
AF: 19 point
ISO: 50-6400
Memory Card: CF & SD
Proc: DIGIC III
Sealing: Yes, Full.
Feature: Live View w/AF
Price: $2999 USD
Remember folks, these are still rumors no matter how reliable others claim them to be. Expect something from Canon at Photokina for sure, but don’t sell off that 5D until you can replace it with a real camera. For now, you can keep up with the rumors on the Canon 5D Mark II Rumors page or the Canon 3D Rumors page.
