Canon EOS 7D Mark II Due in 2014?
Consistent with past rumors, it looks like the Canon 7D Mark II will make its debut in 2014, which will leave the new Canon 70D with time to shine this fall. [Read more…]
Nikon D400 and D4s Rumor Update
It’s been quite some time since we have heard anything about the Nikon D400. When the D7100 launched, there was a lot of concern that the D400 wouldn’t show up to replace the D300s after all, and that Nikon would allow the D7100 to remain atop the DX camera lineup and the D600 would sit at the low end of the FX line as a gap-bridger to the D800.
New rumors suggest that the D400 was, in fact, pushed back in Nikon’s DSLR line-up in order to allow the D7100 to shine for awhile on its own. Of course, the D7100 is an excellent camera in its own right; however, it is still missing some things that you expect on a proper D300s replacement. [Read more…]
Canon 7D Mark II Not Coming in 2013?
The latest in a long line of rumors concerning the Canon 7D Mark II puts the camera’s delivery beyond this calendar year and into 2014. That would put the original Canon 7D (it was announced in Sept. 2009) well past the 4-year mark if/when the 7D Mark II is announced in 2014. Much longer and we’ll need to start looking into kindergarten programs for the 7D…
Additionally, the Canon 70D is supposedly the only other Canon DSLR that is going to arrive this year; however, there are rumors from “good sources” that put several new lenses coming in 2013. Could the EF 28-300mm and EF 100-400mm lenses be among those new offerings?

New Canon 7D Mark II and 100-400mm Lens Rumors
Rumors of the Canon 7D Mark II continue to trickle out as the original 7D approaches its fourth birthday. Alongside a set of rumored specifications for the pro-level APS-C DSLR, it appears that a refreshed version of the Canon EF 100-400mm IS lens may also join its ranks on the eventual announcement date (currently rumored for the September/October time frame).
The current 100-400mm lens is available at the moment for $1459 with Canon’s existing rebates. Based on Canon’s recent pricing strategy, I would surmise that pricing for a new version of this lens would be north of $2500. Not cheap, but Canon doesn’t seem to be having much of a problem moving the new 24-70mm f/2.8L at over $2k per unit.
Below are the most recent 7D Mark II specs, which are purportedly based on a prototype of the camera that is in the wild. [Read more…]
Canon 7D Mark II Rumored to Have Integrated Battery Grip
New rumors on the Canon 7D Mark II point to an integrated battery grip for vertical orientation shooting, which would point the APS-C camera squarely at pro shooters. Part of the speculated reasoning behind such a move is to make room for a bigger and more serious battery. [Read more…]

Canon 7D Mark II Rumored Spec List
What looks to be some of the more solid info on the Canon 7D Mark II has surfaced over at Canon Rumors for the rumored 24MP pro/prosumer camera. The 7D Mark II (or whatever it will be called) is believed to fit in the line-up as sort of a baby 1D X with an APS-C sensor.
It is expected to be announced at the end of Summer 2013 with immediate availability.
The specs below are based on one of 3 prototypes currently being tested. [Read more…]
New Canon 1-Series and 5D X Rumors
All recent rumors point to 3 key cameras for Canon in 2013 – the 7D Mark II, 70D and Rebel T5i. The latest rumors on the Canon front, however, point to even further out into 2014.
The oft-rumored high-MP Canon DSLR seems to be trending toward a 2014 launch date instead of this year. Rumored sensor sizes are 40MP or better on a full frame chip for the EOS-1 series body.
Additional rumors point to a quicker-turnaround for the 5D Mark III than we saw in the last generation – perhaps as early as 2014. The 5D X (or whatever the camera would be called) would likely see a marginal kick in specs as compared to the jump in performance we saw from the 5D Mark II to the 5D Mark III.
