Sony introduced the new HDR-AS50 action cam at CES 2016 last week. It feeatures an 11.1MP CMOS sensor and captures 1080/60p footage using the solid XAVC S codec for bitrates up to 50Mbps. It will also capture 720p video at 120fps. [Read more…]
PolarPro, maker of action camera and drone accessories, just got a nice influx of $1-million on the ABC show Shark Tank. CEO Jeff Overall appeared on the show to pitch his company to the sharks.
After getting a $500,000 offer for a 10% stake in the company from Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec joined in for another $500,000 investment for an additional 10% stake. Alongside the new GoPro HERO+ announced today, the GoPro HERO4 Session also got a price drop to $299.99 (down from $399.99).
Recall that the GoPro HERO4 Session is an ultra-compact action cam measuring as a 1.5″ cube. It captures 1080/60p video, as well as the taller frame 1920 x 1440p video at 30fps. It can also deliver 720p video at 100 fps for roughly 4x slow motion when conformed to a 24p edit timeline.

I’m a huge fan of GoPro cameras. My most recent one is the HERO4 Silver. The LCD touchscreen was the perfect addition and it has become my go-to action camera.
