As I’m sure most Mac users are aware of by now, OS X Lion is out.  I haven’t upgraded my MacBook yet because I’m still running software that won’t run on Lion.

3 Great Timelapse Videos

These three videos from Jeff Chen Kuo Chih were captured over the period of several days in the Eastern Sierra. The foreground lighting in the third video adds an almost surreal effect to the night shots of the Milky Way.

It’s worth noting that these were shot using a combination of the Nikon D5100 and Nikon D3 cameras.

While the Canon 5D Mark II seems to get all the attention in time lapse videos, Nikon deserves a lot of credit for the time lapse capablities of its DSLRs. Most of the recent Nikon DSLRs (excluding the very base-level models) offer a built-in intervolometer, which means you can shoot time lapse sequences right out of the box without the need to by a $150 remote as is the case with Canon time lapse work.

Adobe Offering 50% Off for Final Cut Pro Switchers

Adobe’s marketing machine is taking advantage of the Final Cut Pro X dilemma by enticing Final Cut Pro users with a 50% off discount of competing Adobe products and packages, including Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Production Premium CS5.5.  Adobe’s promo (shown above) takes a dig at Apple’s recent bad press with its switch slogan: “You’re a pro. What to Do When Content Aware Scale and Content Aware Fill Doesn’t Work

Terry White just released a new video in his Adobe Creative Suite Video Podcast.  As you may have guessed from the post’s title, this one shows you a couple of cool tricks to get around situations when Photoshop‘s Content Aware magic doesn’t quite work the way you want it to.

Adobe Lightroom 3.4.1 and Camera Raw 6.4.1 Updates Available

Adobe has released an incremental update for Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw 6.  This update is geared toward a fix for a rare bug related to JPEG files from the HP PhotoSmart R607 digital camera.  Additional details about the bug are available on Adobe’s Lightroom Journal.

Deal Alert: Lightroom 3 for $179.99

Right now, you can get Lightroom 3 from Amazon for $179.99. For those unaware, Lightroom 3 is a RAW image processing program that makes life working with RAW files so much easier.  It also carries a hefty retail price of $300, so getting it for $180 is a real bargain.

iPad Remote, Eazel and More Killer Apps for Adobe Photoshop

The recent update for Photoshop CS5 adds the power to remotely control elements within Photoshop from external devices like the iPad.

Shawn Welch walks through his latest app, “Remote for Adobe Photoshop,” created using the Adobe Photoshop Touch SDK. Remote for Photoshop provides users with a live interactive document and remote connections to tools and filters from both the iPad and the iPhone. Additionally, Shawn’s app also gives users the ability to easily move documents between devices. –AdobeTV
