Is the Apple Store Blackballing Competitive Adobe Software?
I was in the Apple Store a few days ago and wanted to try out After Effects on the new Core i7 MacBook Pro; however, it was nowhere to be found. I was almost certain that I’ve used After Effects on Macs in the Apple store before – but it wasn’t on a single computer there.
It turns out though, that there are a number of professional Adobe software applications that are entirely absent from the Apple Store – either as demos on the display Macs or as boxed software available for purchase. [Read more…]

Color Mixing Coming to Photoshop for iPad in “Very Near Term”
Last week, we saw what the future possibilities are for Photoshop on the iPad and other tablet devices when it comes to actually working with layers. Now that I’m back from Photoshop World and have had some sleep, I’m getting to some of the other exciting stuff that I saw there.
In yet another segment of the Photoshop World 2011 Keynote, John Loiacono introduced a teaser trailer of a new “color mixing” feature that will be coming to Photoshop for the iPad in the “very very near term,” as he put it.
Check out the video below. [Read more…]
How About Some Content-Aware Lens Correction?
Of course, seeing the latest and greatest things unveiled by Adobe is a cool thing about Photoshop World. However, another cool thing about the keynote session and other sessions withing Photoshop World is taking away little educational gems that will help you grow as a photographer and editor.
In this snippet from the keynote, we get a little taste of what happens when you combine tools like the puppet warp and content-aware fill for some content-aware lens correction in a 5-image panoramic (an image where ordinary lens correction wouldn’t hold water).
Check out the video below. (Pardon the first couple seconds of shaky-cam.) [Read more…]
Mac OS X 10.6.7 Update Resolves Photoshop CS5 Bugs
The recent update for OS X fixes a conflict with Photoshop CS5 in OS X versions 10.6.5 and 10.6.6.
One or more of the following issues occur when you use Photoshop CS5 after updating Mac OS to 10.6.5 or 10.6.6:
- The warning, “Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?” appears when you open Photoshop.
- The startup screen reads White Rabbit, instead of Photoshop CS5, and looks different.
- Tools behave as if the Shift or Option keys are pressed.
- Your cursor remains the plug sign (+).
Upgrading to OS X version 10.6.7 should resolve these problems. You can upgrade to 10.6.7 by clicking on “Software Update” from the Apple menu in OS X.
