Canon EF 11-24mm fl4L USM Lens Cutaway
I loving seeing these displays of lenses and other photo product cutaways at trade shows and expos. At the Canon Expo in New York last week, Canon had its EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM and EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lenses on display with them cut perfectly in half.

This gave us a view of the incredible engineering that goes into these modern professional lenses.
Canon recently announced the ME20F-SH, a full frame EF-mount camera with sensitivity up to ISO 4,000,000.
As with other recent announcements, the ME20F-SH was on display at the Canon Expo 2015 in New York last week. Notably, they had a working model on the Expo floor. [Read more…]
Canon has its next-gen Connect Station on display this week at the Canon Expo 2015 in New York. The upcoming model features built-in wireless and NFC connectivity for automatically importing photos and videos from compatible Canon cameras, which is just like the current Connect Station CS100. Zeiss has announced a collection of 6 lenses in its new Milvus line for Canon (ZE) and Nikon (ZF.2) mount cameras.
The new lenses consist of the following:
The lenses are manual focus only; however, the communicate electronically with the camera body to provide compatibility with program, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. Additionally, they will communicate lens EXIF data to the camera.
The focus ring is a longer throw for precise focusing and enhanced use with video. Zeiss says the lens quality meets the latest standards for 6K video capture. The ZF.2 lenses offer the ability to declick the aperture for video use.
The new Zeiss Milvus lenses range in price from $1177 to $1843 and will be available in October 2015.

Canon Cinema EOS 8K Camera with EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens
Canon has several different configurations of its new Cinema EOS 8K camera on display at the Canon Expo in New York this week. The 8K cinema camera was announced as an in-development product earlier this week.

Canon showed off the EF 600mm f/4L DO BR lens today at the Canon Expo in New York. It is substantially shorter than the current EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM lens thanks to the diffractive optics inside. [Read more…]

As if the Canon EOS 5Ds wasn’t enough already at 50MP, Canon has announced that it is developing a 120MP DSLR.
Canon says that “[t]he camera under development is being designed to facilitate a level of resolution more than sufficient for large-format printing and extensive cropping capability while maintaining fantastic image quality.”
Canon notes that the camera is built for the current EF system lenses; however, it will apparently not be compatible with all of the lenses in the Canon EF line. According to a footnote in Canon’s press release, “Out of the 96 lenses that make up the EF lens lineup, 60 models will be compatible with the [new 120MP DSLR].” [Read more…]
