New rumors from Northlight Images suggest that Canon has a couple of 5D Mark IV variations undergoing field testing – an 18MP and a 24MP camera.
However, the final camera is expected to be 24MP resolution, while the 18MP version is being used to test AF speed and buffer management issues. Additionally, the camera is rumored to shoot less than 8fps.
Even at 24MP, that’s a relatively low resolution after the Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R have now landed at a whopping 50MP.
Previous rumors pointed to a 5D Mark IV camera with 4K video capture and a new flash system. Perhaps Canon will finally integrate the in-body radio trigger we saw years ago in its patent filings?
Additionally, past rumors suggested the 5D Mark IV would be equipped with a 28MP sensor and 9fps shooting speed. It seems we are getting closer to whittling things down and should start to see specs and rumors conform on some of these items.
Stay tuned!

After the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT was announced earlier this week, Canon USA revised its press release to note that the flash will work as a Master or Slave unit when using the RT (radio transmitter) mode. In optical mode, it is limited to serving as a Slave unit.
What this means is that you can build out a Canon Speedlite system with just the 430EX III-RT units and no need to buy the more expensive 600EX-RT or ST-E3-RT to serve as the Master controller for your other 430EX III-RT units.
The Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT retails for $299.99 and is expected to ship in September 2015. More details here at B&H Photo.

On June 22, 2015, a Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens rolled off the production line as the 110,000,000th lens in the EF-series product line.
Canon began producing EF lenses for the Canon EOS system in 1987 and, by 1995, had produced 10 million lenses. Canon has reached each 10 million lens production mark faster than than last with the exception of a measurable decline for the last two milestones. [Read more…]
