Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2018 Unveiled

October 5, 2017 By Eric Reagan

It’s that time of the year again when Adobe releases updates for its Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements apps. The 2018 versions of the apps offer improved organization, automated editing and new Guided Edits that walk you through how to edit and create.

Adobe Elements Organizer 2018 now automatically curates your photos based on quality, faces, subjects and more. You can also build slideshows of your curated photos and videos with one-click. 67 new guided edits offer step-by-step instructions for tasks like swapping backgrounds, creating double exposures, adding overlay effects and more.

Note also that Adobe changed the naming scheme to match the year, so that Photoshop Elements 2018 is the replacement for Photoshop Elements 15 (released in 2016).

You can find out more of the new features on the Photoshop Blog. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 is available now for $99.99. Check it out here at B&H Photo and Amazon.com. Likewise, Premiere Elements 2018 is available for $99.99. Check it out here at B&H Photo and Amazon.com. The combo of the two apps is also available for $149.99, which you can find here at B&H Photo.

Use Blending Modes in Photoshop Elements to Make Colors Pop

June 25, 2013 By Eric Reagan

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScRkt3kKNdU&w=640&h=360]

Watch this short, 60-second video to learn how to use a simple blend mode edit in Photoshop Elements to make colors pop on a washed out photo.

For a sub-$100 program, Photoshop Elements 11 has more editing power than many amateurs will ever use. If you are put off by the thought of “renting” the full version of Photoshop through Adobe’s recent Creative Cloud move, consider if Elements is enough for you at this minimal expense for a perpetual license.

Photoshop Elements 9 Book for Digital Photographers Now Shipping

December 14, 2010 By Eric Reagan

It looks like Scott Kelby’s new Photoshop Elements 9 book has started shipping from Amazon.com.

As I’ve said before, if you are a photographer struggling with Photoshop Elements (or any version for that matter), you could do a lot worse than picking up a book penned by Kelby.

If you were holding off getting this book for a photographer on your shopping list because you didn’t know if the pre-order would get here, it looks like you’ll have no trouble getting it delivered in time for Christmas morning.

You can find it here on Amazon.

The Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Book for Digital Photographers – New Book

November 18, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Book for Digital Photographers is a new book from Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski that takes a photographer’s approach to Photoshop Elements 9.

Kelby’s book for Photoshop CS was the first book that I ever bought for Photoshop, and it really helped me get off the ground with the rather intimidating software.  If you are a photographer struggling with Photoshop Elements (or any version for that matter), you could do a lot worse than picking up a book penned by Kelby.

The Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Book for Digital Photographers carries a retail price tag of $39.99; however, you can pre-order it now on Amazon.com for $31.49.

Adobe Photoshop Hits Twenty

Adobe Photoshop 1.0

Adobe Photoshop turns 20 tomorrow, February 19, 2010.  It’s kind of amazing to think that it’s been around for that long.  While DSLRs really just began to flourish 5 or 6 years ago, Photoshop has been kicking for four times as long.  There is a whole lot of celebrating and special events coinciding with Photoshop’s 20th anniversary.  There are plenty of links in the press release below that can point you to ways to connect with the Photoshop community if you’re interested.
