Locked in a Vegas Hotel Room with a Phantom Flex

February 12, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Tom Guilmette put together this great video of his night alone with a Phantom Flex camera in a Vegas hotel room.  This camera captures 2,564fps at a 1080p native resolution.

While the footage the camera produces is stunning in its own manner, Tom’s editing makes the resulting video (and audio) just plain fun.  Check out Tom’s story behind the video (and why he was doing this in Vegas hotel room) over on his blog.

Canon VIXIA HF S21 Camcorder Review

July 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Canon VIXIA HF-S21 is a compact camcorder that captures Full HD 1920 x 1080 in AVCHD format with a number of frame rate options.   The Canon VIXIA HF-S21 is larger than entry-level camcorders like the Sony HDR-CX350V; however, it’s not so big to prevent you from toting it on family outings or other casual endeavors.

Panasonic Lumix G2 Reviews and Resources

March 7, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Panasonic Lumix G2

Along with the Panasonic G10, the Panasonic Lumix G2 is another 12.1MP Micro Four Thirds camera that follows the previous generation G1, GH1 and GF1 cameras.  The G2 headline features include an articulating, 3-inch Live View LCD with a touchscreen interface, along with HD video capture in AVCHD Lite format.

The G2 is paired with a 14-42mm image stabilized kit lens and, of course, is compatible with all previously introduced Micro Four Thirds Lumix G lenses from Panasonic.  Additionally, the G2 includes a built-in pop-up flash and a hot shoe for external flashes.  The G2 will be available in red, blue and black body colors.

Sony Cyber-shot TX5 Hands-On Review

March 6, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Sony Cyber-shot TX5

The Sony Cyber-shot TX5 is a rugged, point and shoot camera that is touted as dustproof, waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof.  The TX5 features a 10.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor for improved low light performance and noise control.  Additionally, the TX5 features a 4x optical zoom lens with image stabilization and can capture 720p HD video.

Like it’s more powerful sibling, the TX7, the Sony TX5 features a touchscreen LCD for quick and intuitive menu navigation.  The touchscreen LCD also allow you to tap the screen to select your focus point.

I really liked the TX5’s 3-inch touchscreen LCD.  There are some touchscreens that just down work on cameras – either in terms of input response or menu navigation.  The TX5, along with the pricier TX7, do touchscreens right. [Read more…]
