How to Adjust Lighting in Post Production Using Photoshop

Check out this video from Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes as he walks through how to adjust lighting to a photo after the fact using some basic tools inside Photoshop. In this video he takes a midday photo and changes it to the appearance of a photo taken at dusk with new lighting elements within.

Karl Taylor Live Beauty Shoot at Photokina

Karl Taylor was at the Broncolor booth at Photokina 2014 doing a live beauty lighting session in only 30 minutes. The video, however, is condensed to 11 minutes. While the audio quality is sketchy throughout, you still get the idea of what he’s doing.

In the session, he also shows off the fast recycle time of the new Broncolor SIROS lights as you can see when he invites numerous photographers up on stage to capture images using the same lights a the same time. The SIROS lights fire repeatedly without missing a beat as several photographers fire at almost the same time. We also get another short refresher on how Broncolor para umbrellas work.

Nikon Refreshes Nikon School Program for 2014-2015

Nikon has announced a newly refreshed and enhanced Nikon School program for 2014-2015.

The program will be held in various cities throughout the U.S, and will now feature a wider variety of classes and a more interactive experience for photographers of all levels from beginners to enthusiasts. New courses will focus on specific photography styles/techniques and will include Travel and Landscape, Creative Lighting, Action and People and Video Production.

Nikon School will host more than 50 classes from September 2014 to June 2015 in 25 locations across the US. The programs are taught by six instructors, all of whom are recognized as experts in the industry.

How to Automate Focus Stacking in Photoshop

In the above video, Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes shows us how to use several different images with different focus points and create a focus stacked image in Photoshop so that everything is in focus.

During the automation process, Photoshop keeps every image on a separate layer and automatically creates a mask to reveal the areas of the particular layer that is in focus.
