Thom Hogan has posted his review of the new Nikon SB-900.
Best flash interface yet. Tiny quibbles aside, Nikon nailed the controls. Faster to set, easier to set, easier to understand how it’s set. Bingo.

Digital Rev has posted a rather spicy hands-on review of the Nikon D700. You don’t get these kind of sample images and product shots over at DP Review…
Nikon fans have waited long for the coming of the Nikon D700 and as history have taught us many times, good things come to those who wait. The Nikon D700 is an ambitious camera loaded with features that will surely catch the appeal of both professionals and serious enthusiasts.

PC Mag has posted a review of the Nikon D60.
I don’t have many complaints about the D60. It is an easy-to-use camera that produces high-quality images, and at $750 (with lens), it’s a terrific deal. But since there aren’t too many substantial feature upgrades from the D40x, the D60 is in danger of falling behind the current competition.

Seriously? Another Nikon model number? I think we may now have more “rumored” camera models from Nikon than current generation models. We’ve seen rumors about the D90, D800, D3x and now the D900.
The only reason the Nikon D900 is getting the light of day here is because Thom Hogan is leaning toward a D900 model over the introduction of a D3x. He said:
I’m going to go a different direction: no D3x. Yes, a 24mp FX body, but it’ll be the D900. This allows them to use the Sony sensor and bring it downscale to compete with the A900/5DII.
Thom’s usually got a pretty good ear to the ground on these things, so there may very well be something to the D900 (or maybe a D800).

Photo Review has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix P80. The new P80 boasts a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED processing and vibration reduction on a whopping 18x optical zoom lens. The P80’s 18x Zoom-NIKKOR lens covers focal lengths from 27-486mm (35mm format equivalent).
Resolution was close to expectations for a 10-megapxiel camera in our Imatest evaluations but we found a measurable (although not large) difference between centre and edge resolution across the lens aperture and focal length range.

Trusted Reviews has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix P80. The new P80 boasts a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED processing and vibration reduction on a whopping 18x optical zoom lens. The P80’s 18x Zoom-NIKKOR lens covers focal lengths from 27-486mm (35mm format equivalent).
As super-zoom bridge cameras go, the Nikon Coolpix P80 is okay, but there are reservations. While the handling is generally good and instinctual, it feels a bit of a lightweight and it’s not the most responsive in the world. Image quality is average too, with good exposure and colour, but it’s let down by fringing and noise.

Let’s Go Digital has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix P80. The new P80 boasts a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED processing and vibration reduction on a whopping 18x optical zoom lens. The P80’s 18x Zoom-NIKKOR lens covers focal lengths from 27-486mm (35mm format equivalent).
It is a camera that seems to have everything going for it and seems remarkably interesting. Besides that, it is the new Megazoom camera of the Nikon brand continuing the successful Coolpix 8xxx series. However, it just doesn’t hit the spot. And therefore you can’t shoot that all-round with the camera the way you would want to.

Cameras.co.uk has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix S210.
When looking at such a small camera as the Nikon Coolpix S210 it is rare to find perfect photos. This camera does a decent job and is a good snapshot camera for carrying around on your travels.

The following vendors have the D700 in stock as of 9:50 p.m. ET. This in-stock status was confirmed by an email that I received from the vendors. The warn, however, that the supply is limited.
For the moment (8:09 p.m. ET), the Nikon D700 kit is in stock at B&H Photo. (Update – No longer showing in stock.) Unfortunately, the body only option is not available at B&H yet.
Here’s the links to B&H Photo:
It’s probably time to start perusing some of the other vendors too. Here’s PB’s collection of pre-order links to the Nikon D700:

David Hobby over at Strobist has given the Nikon SB-900 a good run-through and shares his thoughts on the new $500 speedlight.
One other noteworthy change is that the SB-900 swings both ways — you can go reverse 180 in either direction. This is especially useful, in that whichever way you mount a remote flash you can have the receiving window facing the master light source.
Jump on over there to see whether you should sell all of your SB-800’s to make room in your bag for SB-900’s. (Ok, it’s not that simple, but David’s got some great insights on the pros and cons of the new flash, particularly for those of you who already own a stable of SB-800’s.)
