I caught this great tutorial earlier today from Matt Kloskowski on restoring torn photos with Photoshop. In it, he takes a photo that’s torn in half and does a super quick fix that looks pretty darn good. If you’ve ever tried to fix an old photo before and don’t know this trick, you’ll appreciate it.

Applying the concepts of complimentary color contrast in a photographic sense can provide a handy compositional tool. When looking at various forms of visual art, we can draw from the creative talents of those who’ve perfected their craft. In this case, I wanted to explore Henri Matisse and his use of bold complimentary color. Adobe Photoshop turns 20 tomorrow, February 19, 2010. It’s kind of amazing to think that it’s been around for that long. While DSLRs really just began to flourish 5 or 6 years ago, Photoshop has been kicking for four times as long. There is a whole lot of celebrating and special events coinciding with Photoshop’s 20th anniversary. Corel has announced the latest version of its PaintShop software for digital image post-processing. PaintShop Photo Pro features a new organizer for rating and tagging photos, as well as RAW image conversion, along with a number of other features. The new software retails for $100.
