onOne Software has released Perfect Photo Suite 8.5, which includes speed and productivity enhancements to the Perfect Photo Suite’s Browse module, improved performance with the Perfect Eraser tool, and enhanced masking support in Perfect Effects and Perfect Layers. RAW file support is also included with the Standard Edition in version 8.5.
Perfect Photo Suite 8.5 has grown into a full-featured photo editor, which works as a plug-in with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and Apple Aperture, as well as a standalone app.

In the above video, Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes demonstrates selective editing using dodging, burning and sharpening in Photoshop CC.
You can use dodge and burn tools to only affect shadows, mid-tones or highlights, which make these tools much more effective than they used to be. Likewise, Smart Sharpen is a more powerful tool than it had previously been.

I wish Adobe would just go ahead and make this a permanent deal, but for now the Photoshop Photography Program, which includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5, for $9.99/mo has been extended through May 31, 2014.
There are no limitations for prior software ownership to join at this rate (as there have been in the past). You can sign up for the Photoshop Photography Program here on Adobe’s website.
(At the time of this post, Adobe’s site still has the offer end date as March 31; however, I have official confirmation from Adobe that the deal is extended through May 31.)
