How to Automate Focus Stacking in Photoshop

In the above video, Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes shows us how to use several different images with different focus points and create a focus stacked image in Photoshop so that everything is in focus.

During the automation process, Photoshop keeps every image on a separate layer and automatically creates a mask to reveal the areas of the particular layer that is in focus.

Perfect Photo Suite 9 Announced

onOne Perfect Photo Suite 9

onOne Software has announced Perfect Photo Suite 9 with a number of new features. Among the key new features are fast previews of RAW files, a new Smart Photo feature, which lets you re-edit photos with previous settings intact and improved masking tools. Additionally, noise reduction is now part of the Suite as a result of user feedback and requests.

Perfect Photo Suite 9 will be available in late October 2014 in two versions: Premium and Basic. The Premium version includes support as a plug-in ofr Photoshop, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements and Aperture; and retails for $129.95. The Basic version doesn’t offer plug-in support but functions as a standalone image editor; and retails for $79.95.

The Premium version is available for a limited time to owners of previous versions of Perfect Photo Suite for $89.95.

How to Make Colors POP in Photoshop

In the above PHLEARN video, Aaron Nace shows us how to make individual colors really pop in Photoshop. He does so by using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Then, isolate the particular color range so that hue and saturation adjustments only affect that specific color in your images.

How to Get a Still Image From a Video Using Photoshop

You can use Photoshop to extract quality still images from videos. Most video cameras nowadays (including smartphones) shoot 1080 HD video, which yields a single frame of 1920 x 1080 – or about 2MP.

There are a number of ways to pull still images from video clips and even ways to increase the resolution when you combine frames. Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes explains how to do so in the above video.
