Canon Mirrorless Lens Adapter Revealed in Patent

Canon Mirrorless Patent

The Canon mirrorless camera rumors continue to swirl with a Japanese patent from Canon.  The patent appears to call for a lens adapter between a Canon mirrorless camera body and existing EF lenses.  The lens adapter seems to communicate aperture control between the two.  No word on focus control though.

iPhone Camera Rolling Shutter from Inside Guitar

Check out this cool video from Kyle Jones who stuck his iPhone 4 inside of his guitar.  His experiment resulted in an interesting rolling shutter effect on the guitar strings as he played.

StoryBoard Artist Version 5 Adds Some Bling to Storyboarding

One of the things I enjoy the most about working with video is preproduction. While it is certainly a very creative process, it’s also very analytical, which fits with the way my brain is wired.

Specifically, I really get into the storyboarding and previsualization process.  So when PowerProduction Software sent me an email about the release of its new StoryBoard Artist Version 5, I spent an hour or so digging around the company’s site and reading others’ reviews of the prior versions. Aperture 3.1.3 Now Available

Apple has updated Aperture 3 to version 3.1.3, which “addresses overall stability and performance.”  You can find the entire list of fixes on Apple’s release notes.  You can download the update through OS X’s internal software updates or via Apple’s support page.

Panasonic GF3 Available for Pre-Order

Pink Panasonic GF3The Panasonic GF3 (including the pink one shown above) is available for pre-order at B&H Photo, which usually means it should be in stock any day now.  For now, the GF3 w/ 14mm f/2.8 lens kits are the only ones available.  However, you should probably expect the body-only and 14-42mm kits to be available soon as well.
