It’s been a little too quiet on the Sony front since the introduction of the uber-popular Sony A77. So, it’s not really much of a surprise to hear rumors of a refresh to the full-frame Sony A900 and (even more so) the consumer-ish Sony A55. August is shaping up to be a pretty huge month for now prosumer/pro camera gear. In addition to Nikon’s announcement, it looks like August 24 will be Sony’s big announcement date for the new Alpha models (A77 and A65) and NEX models (NEX-7 and NEX-5N).
After the big announcement from Sony, the A77 and NEX-7 are expected to be available in Japan in September – with US availability coming in October.

The above image is purported to be the new Sony NEX-7. While it appears to be a fake based on the credibility of the source and evidence of image alteration, Sony could have a real gem on its hands if it did something along these lines in the upcoming prosumer NEX model – as a step-up from the NEX-5.

Sony revealed in its press conference on March 2, 2009 that it will be introducing 6 new lenses for its Alpha line of DSLRs. The above image was taken from a product slide show at the press conference.
The new lenses, pictured above, are as follows:
- Super telephoto lens (undisclosed focal length)
- 28-75mm f/2.8
- 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DT
- 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DT
- 50mm f/1.8 DT
- 30mm f/2.8 DT
