The shoot runs like a well oiled machine thanks to the pre-production work and having the right vision going into it. Even if you aren’t doing something to the scale of 40 setups in a single day, the lessons in planning in this video are just as important to me as the lighting tips.

The Nik Collection of photo editing plug-ins from Google is now free.
The software suite once sold for $500. Once Google acquired it, the price dropped down to $150. In a statement released today, Google noted:
As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.
Reading between the lines, I don’t know that we’ll be seeing any major updates for professionals and serious enthusiasts going forward. For now though, the Nik Collection is still a solid package for professional image editing. [Read more…]

I’ve been flying Yuneec’s Q500 Typhoon 4K quadcopter for several months. It is the total package from what you want and expect from a drone for the serious consumer. I’m a huge fan and all-aboard the Yuneec train.
I was introduced to Yuneec in April 2015 at NAB and got the chance to try out the Q500 series last fall. This review is long overdue but the recent price drops across the Typhoon line make them more attractive than ever and have nudged me to spread the word about this great little drone.
