How to Automate Focus Stacking in Photoshop

In the above video, Photoshop Principal Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes shows us how to use several different images with different focus points and create a focus stacked image in Photoshop so that everything is in focus.

During the automation process, Photoshop keeps every image on a separate layer and automatically creates a mask to reveal the areas of the particular layer that is in focus.

It looks like Sigma is about to announce a new 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens in its Sports line.

Tamron recently introduced a new 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC lens, which bests the range of Sigma’s current 150-500mm lens. With the wave that Sigma is riding now that it has produced hit after hit, look for the new Sigma 150-600mm model to be a solid performer.  [Read more…]

Blackmagic Camera v. 1.9.5 Firmware Update Adds SSD Formatting to Production Camera 4K

Blackmagic Production Camera 4K

Blackmagic has added yet another firmware update for the Production Camera 4K. The new Camera v. 1.9.5 update adds the ability to directly format an SSD to HFS+ or exFAT within the camera.

The firmware is currently being worked on for the other Blackmagic cameras. You can download the update for the Production Camera 4K here on Blackmagic Design’s website.

Red Giant has updated its Universe plug-in suite to version 1.2 for both free and paid users. The update adds nine new effects and transitions, Sony Vegas support and Premiere Pro improvements.
