Canon is Developing a New Organic Compound for Sensor and Optics Technology

Canon’s next big move in sensor technology might be a new organic compound that maintains a high level of transparency and is uncharacteristically efficient for light transmittance as far as organic electrochromic compounds go.

Rumors have been swirling in recent weeks about Canon’s next big thing and the key feature being tossed around is that Canon has some killer new sensor technology. As I spent a good chunk of my weekend reading Canon patent applications (because I’m more than an average camera geek), I came across a trend of sensor technology and some chemical engineering patents that relate to image sensors. How to Fix Red Skin in Photoshop

Here’s another great, quick Photoshop tutorial from Phlearn on correcting red skin that commonly shows up on subjects’ faces around the nose and cheek areas.

You can use a Hue & Saturation adjustment layer to first isolate the specific red areas that you are trying to correct and then adjust the hue to blend in with the surrounding skin areas.

Canon 5D Mark IV and 1D X Mark II Rumors

New rumors suggest that both the Canon 5D Mark IV and the 1D X Mark II will be announced early in 2015 (in the Jan/Feb time frame). The Canon 5D Mark III was announced in March 2012, while the 1D X was announced in October 2011. As such, early next year would be a fitting replacement time frame for both cameras. [Read more…]

Camera Raw 8.5 and DNG Converter 8.5 Now Available

Along with Lightroom 5.5, Adobe has released Camera Raw 8.5 for Photoshop CC and Photoshop CS6. A final version of the free DNG Converter 8.5 is also available for those using older versions of Photoshop.

While Camera Raw 8.5 provides several new features, they are only available to Photoshop CC users. Those using Photoshop CS6, however, do get the new camera support provided in Camera Raw 8.5.

Tamron has announced that the new 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD lens will ship this month for $849. It is available in Canon and Nikon mounts, with a Sony mount option to be forthcoming.
