B&H Contest Wants You to Show Off Unintended Uses for Your Gear

B&H Photo is giving away several cameras in a new contest that asks people to “Submit your best videos about using technology or gear in an unintended way.”

Prizes up for grabs include: Canon 6D or Nikon D600 for first place, Canon SL1 or Sony NEX-5R for second place, and Canon PowerShot S110 or Nikon Coolpix P330 for third place.

Sony NEX-5T Announced

Alongside the new A3000, Sony has released the NEX-5T as a successor to the popular NEX-5R. Although a mild upgrade to the NEX-5R, the NEX-5T features Near Field Communication for easier WiFi connectivity.

The Sony NEX-5T sports a 16.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor (same as the NEX-5R) and is available in a kit with the 16-50mm power zoom lens with Optical SteadyShot inside. The NEX-5T features the same Fast Hybrid AF system found in the NEX-5R, which combines phase-detection and contrast-detection AF for fast and accurate autofocusing. [Read more…]

Japanese Lens Maker Yasuhara, just released a new pair of Nanoha Macro Extension Tubes.

Extension tubes basically allow users to turn interchangeable lenses into macro lenses; making it ideal for those just getting into macro photography or those looking for a more cost effective alternative to spending the big bucks on a new macro lens. It comes in a set, which includes a 10 mm and a 16 mm extension tube so it can be used individually or stacked together.

The new Nanoha Macro Extension Tubes retail for $159 for the pair and are available in Micro Four Thirds mount and Sony E-mount. Check them out here at B&H Photo.
