Note that there are a couple of things in the spec list that seem a little odd – like the plethora of video formats. We should know something for sure later tonight though.

Canon 5D Mark III: What We Know and Think We Know

Above is a supposed to be one of the press invites for the 5D Mark III due out at midnight Thursday night. (via CR)
Something is coming Thursday night at midnight EST. Of course, I’ll have full details up as soon as I know something official. We may even get some leaks ahead of time (usually the case).
What we’re expecting is the Canon 5D Mark III – a 22MP full frame DSLR that captures 1080p video with the same codec we see in the 1D X (edit-friendly ALL-I and the more compressed IPB). [Read more…]
SmugMug Camera Awesome for iPhone

SmugMug has announced a new, free iPhone camera app – Camera Awesome.
I just downloaded the app and gave it a run-through on a couple of images. Controls are fast and very responsive. I really dig the focus point and exposure crosshairs that it gives you. [Read more…]
Lightroom 4 Pre-Order for $149.99 [Breaking]

Whoa! Looks like Amazon may have just outed Lightroom 4’s launch date and shiny new retail price. [UPDATE: The link now appears to be broken. (Alternate link.) Feature list from the description is below.]
If this is the real deal (and it sure looks like it), then Adobe is looking to shake things with more than just the subscription pricing scheme coming up for the CS6 launch. [Read more…]
Photoshop CS6 Sneak Peek
Here’s another Photoshop CS6 Sneak Peek. This one shows off a selective focus tool that can be quickly applied.
Note the available options include field blur and tilt shift in addition to the iris blur demonstrated in the video. It will be interesting to see how this works when you want to show some shallow depth of field behind a subject while the subject remains in place. I would imagine that that you’ll be able to mask your subject out and then apply the blur to the background layer similar to how we already do in Alien Skin’s Bokeh 2.
Hopefully, the wait won’t be much longer…

‘Act of Valor’ Made with Premiere Pro, After Effects and Other Adobe Tools
Here’s a short video that takes you behind the scenes of ‘Act of Valor‘, which was shot on the 5D Mark II, and shows how Adobe products were used to help make the film. I knew that Adobe products were used quite a bit on the film; however, I was still surprised to hear that most of the visual effects in the film were done in After Effects.
It looks like most/all of the Adobe products that Bandito Bros used can be found in Adobe Production Premium.
