Canon’s 5D Mark IV is a Logical, Expected Upgrade

We’ve been talking about the Canon 5D Mark IV for so long, it’s hard to believe that the camera is almost here. The amount of images and specs that have now leaked and corroborated among several outlets leave the official announcement as a mere formality.

The camera should be announced next week and is expected to be available within a month. As such, it should be a monster seller.

Canon 1D X Mark II is All About Speed and Serious 4K Video Chops

We are within a day or so of the official announcement from Canon; however, the key aspects of the official press release we expect to see just surfaced from Canon Rumors. It confirms the previous spec list we had seen leaked from Japan and suggests that this camera is a worthy successor to the 1D X. It’s also notable that it comes in at $5,999, which is $800 less than the original 1D X launched at.

It features the previously-rumored 20.2MP full frame CMOS sensor that is “Canon-developed” (interesting wording). The standard sensitivity range is ISO 100-51,200 and can be expanded to ISO 50-409,600. For comparison sake, the Nikon D5‘s max native sensitivity is ISO 102,400 and the expanded sensitivity reaches up to ISO 3,280,000. New Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Leaks Out Ahead of Official Launch

The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM has been expected for a few weeks now after a reference to the lens leaked out through a Russian certification agency. An image of the lens has now surfaced at Digicame-info, which usually means a product is only days (or maybe hours) away from an official announcement. This new lens will serve as a replacement to the current EF 35mm f/1.4L USM lens.

Leaked specs note that the lens features 14 elements in 11 groups with a nine blade circular aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 0.28m. It takes a 72mm filter and measures 105.5mm long with a 80.4mm diameter. Weight is 760g and it will use the Canon EW-77B lens hood.

Expect the official announcement to come along very shortly. Given the $1479 retail price of the current model, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the new model priced close to (or a little over) the $2k mark.

Also, we may get the Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens that was leaked earlier alongside the new 35mm lens. Stay tuned.
