WD TV Live Hub and WD Photos App Review

May 24, 2011 By Eric Reagan

The WD TV Live Hub is a set top box for your TV that gives you access to streaming content like Netflix and Pandora.  Other services like Flickr and Facebook are also accessible through the WD TV Live Hub.

However, where it beats out other streaming devices is with the inclusion of a 1TB hard drive and the ability to share media across devices on your network and remotely with your iOS or Android devices using the WD Photos App. [Read more…]

Samsung NX Prototypes: Fun Form-Factors

May 22, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Recently, Samsung gave us a look into the development of NX lenses and what the future might hold for the format of its mirrorless camera system.  Along with that look, Samsung teased us with the above image that shows off several different designs of prototype NX-system cameras and lenses.

I’m not so sure about the ergonomics the Hassy-esqe design, but it sure has a nice retro look to it.

What do you think?  What kind form-factor would be ideal for your shooting needs/wants?

Lexar USB 3.0 SD and CF Card Reader

May 21, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Lexar has launched a new Professional USB 3.0 SD and CF combo card reader.  The USB 3.0 connectivity provides a faster data transfer rate than the USB 2.0 version of this device.  This new reader is compatible with the UDMA CF specs and the SDXC and UHS-I SD card specs, so you shouldn’t have a compatibility issue with any of your memory cards.

The only other USB 3.0 card reader that I’ve seen on the market to date is this one from Delkin.  Now, if we can just get some Thunderbolt-compatible card readers out…

The new Lexar USB 3.0 reader retails for $49.95 and is currently available for pre-order at Adorama.

Check out the video from Jeff Cable, who gives a quick demo and comparison of the new card reader’s speed potential. [Read more…]

Sigma SD1 Priced at $9700, Arrives in June

May 20, 2011 By Eric Reagan

I’m not sure what fantasy world Sigma is living in; however, the company just dropped a press release detailing the availability and price of its “46-megapixel” DSLR – the Sigma SD1.  It will be here in June at a whopping price of $9700.

That’s Nine Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars – or roughly the same price as a 2007 Ford Taurus.

Chuck Norris has three on pre-order. [Read more…]
