Seagate’s 16TB Hard Drives Now Available for Pre-Order

The new Seagate IronWolf and IronWolf Pro 16TB NAS drives are now available for pre-order. These are 3.5″ single disk NAS drives. The Pro drives have a 300TB/year workload rating and a 250MB/s data transfer speed, while the standard Iron Wolf drives are rated for 180TB/year and a 210MB/s data transfer speed.

Combine 8 of these drives with a Synology DiskStation DS1819+ 8-Bay NAS box and you’ll have a whopping 128TB of storage in a very fast and relatively compact network drive. With drive sizes like this, bring on the 100MP+ cameras!

The IronWolf Pro runs $629, while the standard IronWolf drive is priced at $579. You can pre-order the new Seagate 16TB drives here at B&H Photo.

Drobo has released its new Drobo Mini with SSD, which features four 2.5″ drive bays packed with SSDs and available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB options.

The Drobo Mini connects via Thunderbolt or USB 3.0. It weighs less than three pounds and can handle multiple drive failures without data loss.

Sony Unveils Rugged Storage Drives

Sony recently introduced a new line of rugged, professional hard drives in SSD and standard spinning hard drive flavors. The SSD version (PSZ-SA25) is available as a 256GB capacity drive, while the spinning hard drives are available in 500GB and 1TB capacities (PSZ-HA50 and PSZ-HA1T).
