Red Giant Ships PluralEyes 3 for Mac

Red Giant’s PluralEyes 3 for Mac is now available.  This latest iteration of the superior audio synching software is the first version that’s been released since Red Giant acquired Singular Software (and it has gotten so much better since version 1 – which was awesome in its own right at the time).

Red Giant claims 20x speed increases in PluralEyes 3 and, after having seen demos of the software back at NAB 2012, I can vouch that those numbers are legit.  This latest version absolutely sings – no matter how many audio clips you pile on to be synched up.

Premiere Pro CS6 Update Adds Retina Display Support & GPU Support for GT 650M in New Macbook Pros

Adobe has issued an update for Premiere Pro CS6.  Version 6.0.2 adds a number of features and bug fixes.  Notably, the update adds support for the Retina Display on the Macbook Pro with Retina.

Additionally, Premiere Pro now supports the new GT 650M graphics card that is found in the new Macbook Pro models.  Premiere Pro can use either OpenCL or CUDA for GPU processing on the GT 650M.

Premiere Pro CS6 also received Windows 8 certification with this update.

You can download the update from within Premiere Pro CS6 by choosing Help > Updates, or via the Adobe Application Manager.

DxO Optics Pro v7.5.4 Now Available

DxO Optics Pro v7.5.4 is now available and adds support for the Pentax K-30 and the Sony DSC-RX100, along with more than 400 new camera/lens combinations added since the last version.  With the latest update, DxO Optics Pro 7 now has over 8,000 available DxO Optics Modules.

Adobe Prelude CS6 Now Available as a Standalone Product

Prelude CS6

Adobe Prelude CS6,  which is software for ingesting and logging of file-based footage workflows, is now available as a standalone product. Prelude CS6 was introduced in April 2012 as a part of the CS6 Master Collection, CS6 Production Premium and Creative Cloud.

Prelude CS6 is now available as a standalone product exclusively from Adobe.com for $399 for a perpetual license.  As noted, Creative Cloud users get this with their membership.

Adobe Revel 1.5 Now Available

Adobe has updated its cloud photo album app, Revel, to version 1.5.  The new version adds the following features:

  • Albums to organize photos – Create an album on one device and it is automatically updated and accessible everywhere
  • Sharing albums on the Web – Share private albums with friends and family via AdobeRevel.com
  • Captions – Add context to memories with text descriptions
  • An updated all new UI makes the app more intuitive and easier to navigate
  • Library grid view – Browse photos in track or grid view
  • Sign in with Facebook or Google IDs – Eliminate the hassle of remembering another password by logging in with a Facebook or Google ID and password

Adobe Revel operates on a subscription basis – either $5.99/month or $59.99/year.  With Revel, you can sync an unlimited number of images across your devices.  It is available via the Mac App Store (for Macs) and the iTunes App Store (for iPhone and iPad).

Topaz has updated photoFXlab to version 1.2.  In this latest version, you have the ability to save your project (layers using a new topaz file format), 3-party plug-in support (for select .8bf plug-ins), cropping grid overlay (stand-alone mode only), and Apple Aperture plug-in support.

If you aren’t familiar with photoFXlab, it is a standalone application that can also be accessed as a plugin. It allows you to work with layers of Topaz effects in a single interface.

Topaz has also extended the $50 savings through August 31.  Just use the coupon code CreateFX at checkout on Topaz Labs’ website to get photoFXlab for $29.95.

Photo Mechanic 5 Now Available

Photo Mechanic 5 is finally available as a full release.  Photo Mechanic has been the industry standard for image management in the photo journalist world for years.  Version 5 adds “significantly improved metadata handing capabilities” with all major IPTC fields supported.

Additionally, Camera Bits claims that it has made Photo Mechanic even faster, which sounds amazing given just how fast the prior version of Photo Mechanic is.

Photo Mechanic 5 is available for new users for $150.  Existing users can snag the upgrade for $90.  Additional sale prices are available at launch through August 20, 2012.  More details on Photo Mechanic’s website.

New Microsoft Camera Codec Pack Released

Microsoft has released a new camera codec pack that will allow RAW files for supported cameras to be viewable in Windows Explorer and other software that’s based on Windows Imaging Codecs.

Loads of new and old cameras are supported, including the latest models like the Canon 5D mark III and Nikon D800.  More details on Microsoft’s website.
