This video from Karl Taylor shows the behind the scenes construction of his infinity cove inside his studio. There is a ton of work that goes into the construction. The results, however, are fantastic.

Watch the Canon 7D Shutter at 10,000fps

This video from the Slow Mo Guys shows us a great look at the shutter movement inside the Canon 7D at a range of shutter speeds, all the way up to 1/8000s.

It is a view we don’t ever really get to see even if we do understand the process of how a focal plane shutter works. Thanks to a Phantom camera that shoots HD video at 10,000fps, we get to see up close and in detail the mirror and shutter operation.

As you are watching, note the vibration of mirror on its impact and consider how that will affect image quality as much slower shutter speeds.

SanDisk Unveils 200GB microSDXC Card

SanDisk 200GB microSDXC Card

SanDisk has announced a new 200GB microSDXC UHS-I card designed for mobile devices, besting the size of its previously largest 128GB card.

The new card delivers of to 90MB/s read speed (unknown write speed) and will be available in the second quarter of 2015 for $399.99.

microSD cards are growing at a bigger rate than any other memory card format thanks to mobile devices. According to IDC, seven out of 10 images captured by consumers are from smartphones and tablets.

Canon 5D Mark III Firmware Update ver. 1.3.3

Canon recently issued a firmware update for the 5D Mark III to version 1.3.3. The new firmware provides for the following improvements and fixes:

  1. Improves the AF controllability when shooting in Live View mode with a wide-angle lens (fixed focal length or zoom).
  2. Corrects some incorrect indications on the “English” and “Russian” menu screens.
