Adorama has announced two new filter lines, the VU brand with two levels of quality and price for a range of filter options, and another line under the popular MeFoto brand.

The Nikon D810 is by virtually all regards an excellent full frame camera. It’s 36MP full frame sensor is class-leading in terms of resolution overall image quality.

The D810 is also quite the competent video camera, with plenty of new bells and whistles added over previous Nikon HDSLR offerings.

Nikon thinks the D810 is such a great HDSLR for cinematographers that it makes the camera available in what is called the Nikon D810 DSLR Filmmaker’s Kit, which is the focal point of this review. [Read more…]

Fuji Introduces Macro Extension Tubes for X-Series

Fuji Macro Extension Tubes

Fuji has announced two new Macro Extension Tubes for its X-Series cameras. The new extension tubes are the MCEX-11 and MCEX-16 feature electronic contacts to maintain normal AE functions and blend in with the overall X-Series aesthetics.

The new extension tubes should be available mid-December for $99.95. You should be able to find them soon here at B&H Photo.

Sony A7 II Specs Leaked?

It looks like the Sony A7 II specs have leaked out, which should replace the well-received Sony A7. The camera looks to get an improvement in the image stabilization and video departments.

What makes me raise my eyebrow the most is the inclusion of the XAVC S codec. There are no specs concerning video resolution of the A7 II; however, XAVC S is generally seen on Sony cameras that offer 4K video capture. Will Sony bring compressed, in-camera 4K video capture to the A7 line with the new A7 II? [Read more…]

Lightroom 5.7 and Camera Raw 8.7 Now Available

Lightroom 5

Adobe has announced the availability of Lightroom 5.7 and Camera Raw 8.7, which includes the Aperture importer tool and adds support for 24 new cameras, including the Canon 7D Mark II and Nikon D750.

Lightroom 5.7 also adds support for tethered capture for the Nikon D4S and D810.
