Canon Telephoto Lens Snapped in Half on Sidelines of NCAA Football Game

Sterling Shepard Lands on Lens

In the second quarter of the football game today between Oklahoma and Kansas State, Oklahoma’s quarterback Trevor Knight threw a fade pass to the corner of the end zone. Receiver Sterling Shepard laid out for the reception and landed just outside the back corner of the end zone.

The problem for Shepard and one unfortunate photographer was that Shepard landed on top of a Canon telephoto lens. [Read more…]

Nikon Coolpix P600 and P340 Firmware Updates

Nikon has issued firmware updates for the Coolpix P600 and P340 cameras.

Nikon Coolpix P600 firmware update version 1.2 adds the following improvements:

  • An issue that prevented charging of the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL23 using the camera and charging AC adapter when the EN-EL23 was completely discharged has been resolved.

Nikon Coolpix P340 firmware update version 1.2 adds the following improvements:

 

  • An issue that prevented charging of the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL12 using the camera and charging AC adapter when the EN-EL12 was completely discharged has been resolved.
  • When RAW (NRW) images captured with a burst of continuous shooting at a setting of Continuous H were opened in image-processing software such as ViewNX 2 for development, image colors were abnormal. This issue has been resolved.

Canon 7D Mark II Shipping October 30

We previously thought the Canon 7D Mark II would ship in November; however, an update to Amazon’s listing for the camera reveals that it will ship on October 30. That’s just a couple weeks away folks.

While B&H still has the camera listed for availability in November, they will likely get ship the camera at the same time as Amazon.

Apple Launches New Retina 5K Display iMac

Alongside new iPads today, Apple announced an impressive new iMac with a 27″ 5K resolution display for a base price of $2499.

The new Retina display iMac has been rumored for quite some time now. It offers the 4x the resolution of the previous 2560 x 1440 resolution panels on the 27″ iMac models. The new display weighs in with an incredible 5120 x 2880 resolution – that’s 14.7 million pixels! [Read more…]
