Tamron has announced pricing and availability for its new 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DI II VC PZD MACRO lens. The lens follows the popular 18-270mm model, stretching the focal length at both ends of the zoom range for a 18.8x total zoom range. The new 16-300mm model retails for $629 and should be available mid-May (B&H says on May 15) and is available for pre-order for Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Aside from the 4K capability, one thing everyone is talking about on the new Sony A7S is the new 12MP sensor and the ridiculous low light sensitivity that it delivers.

Lensbaby has announced a new 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens for Canon and Nikon APS-C DSLRs. It’s a manual focus lens with a close focus distance of 1/4″. The lens barrel features a focus distance scale and hyperfocal scale.
The lens produces a complete circular inside the image sensor frame with a 185° angle of view.

Nikon has released a new superzoom lens for its DX camera line – the AF-S DX 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR.
It offers a 16.7x zoom range and is 30% lighter than the previous 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G lens. The VR provides 4-stops of stabilization and it should ship in May for $899.95. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Sony’s new A7s is a 4K-capable camera; however, it must send 4K video to an external recorder in order to actually record 4K video. Otherwise, it captures 50MB/s XAVC S video to onboard memory cards. [Read more…]
