DxO Labs has updated DxO Optics Pro 8 to version 8.3.2, which adds support for Canon 70D and Sony RX1R files. Additionally, DxO Optics Pro 8.3.2 adds several new DxO Optics Modules for 445 new camera/lens combinations in its library.
This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO Optics Pro 8, as well as for all photographers who acquired a DxO Optics Pro 7 license on or after September 1, 2012.

Tenba has unveiled a pair of new Messenger DNA camera bags. The bags feature an urban styling and a security strap to anchor the bag behind the user while riding a bicycle or scooter.
The bags’ exterior is made from a graphite-colored 600 denier Helix fabric with a water repellent coating. The bags also come with a removable rain cover for an extra layer of protection in bad weather. The rain cover is silver on one side (for high visibility) and a more subtle black on the other. GoPro has announced a refresh to its Hero 3 camera with the Hero 3+.
It is a mild upgrade to the Hero 3; however, the updates address some of the key criticisms of the Hero 3. The Hero 3+ features 30% more battery life thanks to a 1180mAh battery (up from a 1050 mAh battery in the Hero 3). Additionally, the Hero 3+ gets a sharper f/2.8 lens, 4x faster built-in WiFi. Apple updated its iMac line with a rather modest refresh. Key new specs include an update to fourth generation Intel quad-core processors – i5 is the base offering on all models; however, it is upgradeable to i7 processors up to 3.5Ghz.
Video editors will be pleased with the upgraded graphics cards, including the ability to upgrade to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M with 4GB of video memory. However, the displays did not receive the 4K/Retina upgrade that had been rumored and hoped-for in recent months. [Read more…]

Recent rumors and leaks suggest that Fuji will be releasing two new S-Series cameras in the lead up to PhotoPlus 2013 at the end of October. The Fuji X-E2 should replace the popular Fuji X-E1 mirrorless camera.
Additionally, the Fuji XQ1 is expected to be a compact version of the Fuji X20, using the same 12MP 2/3″ X-Trans II sensor. This could be Fuji’s shot at the prosumer market that’s been so enamored with Sony’s RX100 cameras.
Both cameras are rumored to be announced on October 18.

As the first image of the new Pentax K-3 has leaked out, it looks like Pentaxians will continue to be disappointed with no full frame DSLR. If this image is legit, then the Pentax K-3 is, in fact, an APS-C camera. Previously rumored specs suggested as much; however, this image just about puts the nail in the coffin for a full frame Pentax camera this year. [Read more…]
Rumors of a medium format system in the works for Canon continue to churn as we are still a year away from the anticipated release at Photokina 2014. Keith over at Northlight Images has received word that the rumored medium format system from Canon will be part of the EOS system, “since a key aspect of the MF project is how it positions the Canon camera brand ‘as a whole’ in the market in years to come.”
The EOS branding makes lots of sense given the recent addition of the EOS M line. Additional rumors suggested that current EF lenses would be compatible with Canon EOS medium format bodies; however, that doesn’t seem quite right given the image circle and flange distance requirements. It seems more likely that Canon medium format lenses would be compatible with the EF mount for the current DSLR formats.
