Sony NEX-FS700 Upgrade Coming Next Week?

October 9, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Sony NEX-FS700

When the Sony NEX-FS700 was announced, it was heralded as an affordable 4K camera; however, it wouldn’t quite be a 4K camera until some undetermined point in the future.  Well, that point may now be upon us.

An anonymous tipster sent word to SonyAlphaRumors that the FS700 will be getting its 4K upgrade next week.  At this point, there are no details regarding the method of distribution for the 4K upgrade or the price that may come with it.

Unless Sony just goes bananas with the upgrade pricing though, the FS700 should be the most affordable 4K cinema camera available once the upgrade is officially out.

October 8, 2012 By Eric Reagan

With everybody else dropping new action cams (e.g., Sony, Contour, Polaroid, etc.), it’s high time GoPro brought something new to the market with features like smartphone connectivity and 120fps at 720p as found in the new Sony HDR-AS15.

Photo Rumors notes that a new GoPro Hero 3 is expected by year’s end (as a replacement for the Hero 2) and will be a slimmer model with the expected built-in WiFi.  The new Sony action cams are looking very solid thus far, so GoPro has some serious competition to step up to now…

Watch a 4-Year-Old Tear Up a Mountain Bike Trail with a GoPro on His Head

October 7, 2012 By Eric Reagan

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qmQrEM5rVA&w=640&h=360]

Videos like this are what makes GoPro and its ilk so awesome.  The 4-year-old (with his dad in the lead) is tackling Hellion at Highland Mountain Bike Park in Maine for his first time and gives us a first person take on his experience.  His audio commentary makes it all the better.

As a mountain biker and dad, this made me smile for the full nine minutes.
