Panasonic LUMIX FH7

The Panasonic FH7 is a new compact point and shoot camera with a 16.1MP sensor and a Leica 4x optical zoom lens.  The FH7 sports a 3-inch touchscreen LCD and can capture 720p video at 24fps.

As typical with Panasonic compact camera announcements, there is no word on price or availability dates.  However, availability within the next couple of months would be expected.  You can check availability on Amazon.com.

Fuji X100 In-Stock Alert

B&H Photo has the Fuji X100 in-stock right now.  The availability on this camera has been a tough cookie over the last several weeks.  It only lasted a few hours the last time I saw this camera in stock – expect the same this time.

Panasonic LUMIX G3

The Panasonic LUMIX G3 is a new 16MP Micro Four Thirds camera that can capture 1920 x 1080 HD video in AVCHD.

The G3 offers a sensitivity range of ISO 160-6400 and a capture rate of 4 frames per second.  The G3 has a 3″ articulating touchscreen LCD monitor, as well as an electronic viewfinder.

The Panasonic LUMIX G3 should be available in June at an initial retail price of $699.99 with a 14-42mm kit lens and $599.99 for the body only.  Check availability on Amazon.com and B&H Photo.

Nikon S6100 and S4100 Discontinued in Asia Due to Japan Disaster

Nikon has discontinued its recently-announced Coolpix S6100 and Coolpix S4100 in Asia markets, citing that the earthquake in Japan has lead to production and supply issues with the camera.  No word yet on whether there is a similar effect in the US and other markets for these or other Nikon models.

Topaz Lens Effects

Topaz Labs recently unveiled its new Lens Effects plug-in for Photoshop.  Lens Effects allows you to apply depth of field effects and other effects to your images during post processing.  Lens Effects uses a depth map for fine tuning out of focus areas, which helps make the depth of field look more natural and optical-based. Canon Radio TTL Flash Coming Soon, DSLR w/ Radio Transmitter Too?

Canon may be making that radio trigger flash and DSLR with a built-in transmitter after all.  Recall that I posted the details on Canon’s patent application in August 2010, which covered a radio-signal transmitter and receiver communication between DSLR and Speedlights.

Now Canon Rumors says its been told that Canon has working prototypes of flashes that are triggered via radio communication by an updated version of the ST-E2 transmitter.  Presumably, any new flash from Canon that sports built-in radio TTL communication would unseat the 580 EX II as the flagship Speedlight in Canon’s lineup.
