Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Unveiled
Blackmagic has announced its new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K to follow on the popular Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. It records up to 50 fps 6144 x 3456 video and brings in a bigger Super 35 sensor, which is a step up from the 4/3 format sensor found in the 4K model. It also adds the larger Canon EF lens mount. RED Epic Dragon Dethrones the Nikon D800E as Top Sensor in DxO Mark Tests
The 36MP full frame Nikon D800E has been the top dog sensor according to DxO Mark since the camera was first tested back in February 2012. That is, until DxO Mark put the new 6K RED Epic Dragon sensor to the test. The 19MP APS-H sized sensor from the Epic Dragon was the first to break the 100-point barrier on the DxO Mark score. RED is Building 6K Dragon Cameras Live at NAB in a Custom-Built Clean Room
In what is probably the wildest thing I have seen thus far at NAB 2013, RED has built a ridiculous clean room for its engineers to perform Dragon camera builds on the show floor – complete with windows for spectators to watch the magic happen.
For a little background, EPIC and SCARLET owners also have the option to upgrade their cameras’ sensors to the 6K Dragon sensor for around $10k. The upgrade program has finally begun with quite the spectacle here at NAB 2013. The EPIC-M Dragon starts at $29k.
