One of the frustrations of shooting 4K on many of the recent DSLRs (particularly Canon) has been that the image is severely cropped. If new rumors are to be believed, however, the Canon 90D may feature 4K capture using the full APS-C sensor.
Canon Rumors posits that “we may be getting the new generation of Canon sensors with line skipping or pixel binning for video work.”
Previous rumors suggested the 4K video capture from a 32.5mp APS-C DPAF sensor. Full-width 4K capture on the APS-C sensor would be a very welcomed improvement for what may be the last of this prosumer breed of DSLRs. If this turns out to be true, I think the Canon 90D will sell like hotcakes at the rumored $1400 pricepoint.
