Wedding Photographers Called Out for Using a Canon Rebel XTi by Judge Joe Brown

March 6, 2010 By Eric Reagan

This dispute, which appeared on the Judge Joe Brown TV show, has been making its way around the Interweb.  What makes this ‘trial’ so classic is that Judge Brown knows a thing or two about cameras, lenses and wedding photography.  So, sit back and watch Judge Joe Brown taking these two ladies to task over the quality of wedding photos produced by a Rebel XTi and kit lens.

Nikon DSLR and Lens Rebates

March 5, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Nikon D5000 at BH Photo

Nikon has some solid DSLR and lens combo rebates going on right now.  B&H Photo sent me a list of the rundown of cameras and lens, and they’ve put together kits to make picking up the right items a simple task.

Nikon D5000

Nikon D90

Nikon D300s

Nikon D700

Nikon D3S

Nikon D3X

The rebates are instant rebates, so there’s no clipping UPCs off the box and sending in 3 copies of your receipt.  Just add the item to your cart and you see the discounted price right away.

Follow the links above to the qualifying cameras, then click the words “View Available Kits” (see top screenshot) that is just below the product image to see the lens kits and rebate amounts, which range from $200 to $400.

(Update: Note that the rebates are “stackable” in some cases, so you can save $700 when you buy a couple of lenses with the D3S and D700.  Those kits are specified in the list as well.)

By default, B&H displays the retail price; however, once you add the “kit” to your online shopping cart, you will see the discounted price.  Additionally, you get free shipping in the USA.

Olympus E-PL1 Hands-On Review

March 4, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Olympus E-PL1

The Olympus E-PL1 is a 12.3MP Micro Four Thirds camera that follows the original Olympus E-P1 and E-P2.  The former cameras were geared more toward enthusiast photographers, and the new E-PL1 is aimed squarely at consumers graduating from point and shoot cameras.

The E-PL1 is smaller than both the E-P1 and E-P2.  Additionally, the new camera features a pop-up flash, which is a feature that was missed by many on the previously released Olympus cameras.  The big kicker, however, is a reduced price point of $599 for the body and kit lens.  These factors combine to create a solid offering over the previous E-P1 and E-P2 cameras, and a serious option for consumers shopping for a powerful point and shoot camera.
