The Canon Rebel T1i has received a firmware update to version 1.1.0. The new firmware addresses the following issues:

Canon has updated its Digital Photo Professional software to version 3.8 and 3.8.1 for Windows and Mac users, respectively. The new version of DPP ships with the Canon Rebel T2i and includes other new features and enhancements. Additionally, Canon has updated several ancillary software products as follows:
EOS Utility 2.8.1
Picture Style Editor 1.7.0
WFT Utility 3.5.1
Original Data Security Tools 1.8.0
The updated software is available from Canon’s Download Library.
The recently announced Canon Rebel T2i is currently in stock at B&H Photo here.
It also looks like Adorama has the Rebel T2i in stock. Amazon is still showing it as a pre-order; however, that should change soon if both B&H and Adorama have it on hand.
This is the first shipment of the Rebel T2i since it was announced, so it may not last long.

Sony revealed today at PMA 2010 that it will refresh several models in the Alpha DSLR line with new, Full HD AVCHD-capable models. Among those cameras to be refreshed is the Sony A700, which Sony Alpha enthusiasts have been anxiously awaiting for some time now. Sony had two product mock-ups on display at PMA 2010 – an entry-level DSLR and an advanced DSLR, which appeared to be the Sony A700 replacement (shown above). [Read more…]
At PMA 2010, Sigma has continued to tease us with another introduction of the SD15 DSLR. The SD15 will contain a revamped version of the 14MP Foveon X3 CMOS sensor found in the SD14. It captures 12-bit RAW files, has a continuous shooting speed of 3 fps, and a 5-point AF system.
No word yet on price or availability, other than “hopefully very soon” per a Sigma rep I spoke with at PMA.

Canon has issued a press statement touting the effective use of the new flagship EOS 1D Mark IV at Super Bowl XLIV. Canon interviewed four photographers who used the 1D Mark IV at the big game, all of whom brag on the effectiveness of the camera’s new autofocus system. As part of PMA 2010, Joby has announced two new products – the Gorillapod Magnetic and the Ballhead X.
The Gorillapod Magnetic is a lot like an ordinary Gorillapod; however, it features magnetic feet, which allows it to attach to any magnetic surface. It supports cameras weighing up to 11.5 ounces. The Gorillapod Magnetic should be available in April 2010 for $24.95.
The Ballhead X is designed to work in conjunction with the Gorillapod Focus tripod. The Ballhead X supports up to 11.1lbs and allows you to pan, tilt and rotate the attached camera atop the Gorillapod. the Ballhead X works with 3/8″ and 1/4″ threads, which allows it to be used on any other tripod as well.
