New T-Shirt: Will Work for Film

June 15, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Check out our latest Will Work for Film T-Shirt design for your analog roots. It’s shown above in dark heather gray, which is my personal favor color and fabric blend. It’s nice and thin for staying cool in the summer. These run a bit small, so if you are trying to decide between one size or another, go bigger.

There is also a color version of the Will Work for Film t-shirt, which gives you some brighter options if neutral colors just aren’t your thing. These are available in both men and women sizes.

The most popular shirts are still the 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens Technical Drawing shirt and the I’m Just Here to Take Pictures shirt, so check one of those out if you haven’t yet.

Fujifilm Launches the Instax Square SQ10

April 19, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Fuji’s Instax series has been incredibly popular since it was brought back to life in the US back in 2010. Just recently, Fujifilm updated the Mini 8 by launching the Mini 9 – both of which feature the popular credit card-sized prints. Fuji previously teased us with the tidbit that it was going to give us a square format in the Instax line and now it’s here – the Instax Square SQ10. [Read more…]

Today is Film Photography Day

April 12, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Film Photography Day

According to Lomography anyway, today April 12, 2017 is the fifth annual film photography day in Lomography Gallery and Embassy Stores around the world. If you’re in NYC, there’s a Sacred NYC Tattoo Party Pop-up happening at the Lomography Gallery Store on 8th Street.

If you’re not near a Lomography Gallery or Embassy Store, it’s still a good excuse to dust off your film camera and shoot a couple rolls or sheets.  [Read more…]

Fuji Instax Monochrome Film Now Shipping

October 17, 2016 By Eric Reagan

instax-mini-monochrome-film

Fuji’s new Instax mini Monochrome file is now shipping from Amazon. It’s the same Instax mini format that we’ve grown to love for the Instax Mini 8 and Mini 70, among others. As with other Instax mini film, it’s not exactly cheap. You get 10 exposures for around $15. But, hey, now we’ve got some black and white action for our instant cameras again.

I’m not sure if the going rate will remain at $15; however, you can still pre-order the film from B&H (not shipping just yet) for $9.99.

Deal: Fujifilm FP-100c Instant Film for $19.99

October 1, 2016 By Eric Reagan

Fujifilm FP-100C is Discontinued

B&H has the discontinued Fujifilm FP-100c peel-apart instant film in stock for $19.99. This film had previously spiked upwards of $30 per pack after the announcement of its discontinuation earlier this year. B&H says it has limited stock of the film, which prior to the discontinuation sold for around $11 per pack.

After the final run of film is out of stock, expect remaining supplies to skyrocket in price (the previously-discontinued FP-3000B goes for $40 or more now). Check out FP-100c film here at B&H Photo while it lasts.

45 Frames of Polaroid 4×5 Film at the Indy 500

June 2, 2016 By Andrew Hancock

IMG_3359

I make my living photographing things and people that move. I do that  with a Nikon camera in my hands. Currently my D810 and D5 bodies take 95% of those frames. I am very OCD when it comes to details of the scene, the lighting and how my subject fits within that rectangle.

However, for the past eight years, sitting quietly in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator tucked away in a thick plastic bag has resided 45 exposures of old (and expired), Polaroid Type55 PN black and white 4X5 film. A tool that is anything but perfect. Using such a tool takes a substantial element of control out of my hands which in turn takes me far out of my comfort zone. [Read more…]

Impossible I-1 Instant Film Camera Now In Stock

May 26, 2016 By Eric Reagan

Impossible Project I-1

The Impossible I-1 is the first new 600-type instant film camera released in many years and is now shipping at B&H Photo.

The I-1 accepts the old Polaroid 600-type instant film (now made by Impossible Project), along with the new I-Type film from Impossible project.

The notable advances in the Impossible I-1 include iOS and WatchOS compatibility, an 82-109mm lens, a 5-zone AF system, a built-in ring flash and the inclusion of a rechargeable battery. Having its own battery means that the new I-Type film, which is made for this camera, doesn’t have to include its own battery pack. This seems to shave a couple bucks off the cost of a pack of film.

The I-1 instant camera retails for $299. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Impossible Project Unveils the I-1 Instant Camera

April 12, 2016 By Eric Reagan

Impossible Project I-1

Impossible Project just announced its very first camera, the I-1, which uses Polaroid 600 film.

Impossible Project is currently the only manufacturer of Polaroid 600-type film and there hasn’t been a new 600-type camera released in years.

The I-1 steps up the capabilities of what we’re accustomed to having in instant film cameras like those older Polaroids and even the current Fujifilm Instax cameras. It can be controlled by a smart device over Bluetooth connection to adjust aperture, shutter speed and flash settings. It can also be triggered remotely from the app. Notably, the I-1 includes a built-in ring flash and autofocus. [Read more…]

Impossible Project is Trying to Save Fujifilm Packfilm

March 19, 2016 By Eric Reagan

Fujifilm FP-100C is Discontinued

I am still super bummed about Fujifilm’s decision to stop production of FP-100C packfilm. It’s the last peel-apart instant film on the market. Once it is gone, an entire category of instant film cameras become obsolete. However, The Impossible Project, which saved Polaroid 600 instant film, is trying to save peel-apart packfilm as well. JCH StreetPan 400 is a New Black & White Film

March 18, 2016 By Eric Reagan

JCH Street Pan 400

It’s been a busy year so far with film. A couple weeks back, we saw the writing on the wall for Fujifilm FP-100C instant film, which likely means the end of an entire format. However, we’ve also seen new film introduced with CineStill launching both medium format and large format versions of its 800T film. And now, Japan Camera Hunter is launching its own 35mm film – JCH StreetPan 400. [Read more…]
