Hasselblad has confirmed that its new $5,000 Lunar mirrorless camera will launch next month.
The Hasselblad Lunar will be officially launched in April 2013.
We will, within a short time, launch a new and dedicated website section for the Lunar with all the information.
Recall that the Hasselblad Lunar is basically a rebadged Sony NEX-7 with Hasselblad’s cosmetic changes and a $4,000 markup. I can’t think of a good reason anyone should buy this camera, but I’m open to suggestions…

New rumors over at Photo Rumors point to an upcoming Olympus PEN Micro Four Thirds model that will follow closely to the design of the old PEN F film camera. Additional rumors suggest a built-in viewfinder, which would be a welcomed feature on the mirrorless model.
No other details on specs are being tossed around at this time; however, such a camera would presumably reside at the top of the PEN line-up while the E-PM and E-PL series rounded out the low- and mid-range PEN options. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve seen a new top-level camera in the PEN series (the E-P3 in 2011, which is now discontinued).
Reasonable expectations for a release time frame would be Summer 2013.

Nikon’s APS-C fixed lens mirrorless camera may arrive in the next couple of weeks. Whether it is a response to the outcries over the small 1-inch sensor in its mirrorless 1 Series cameras, or simply jumping on the fixed-lens, big sensor retro bandwagon, is unknown… But the camera is rumored to be on its way. The Sony A58 and NEX-3N were announced last week in Europe. Sony took the wraps off these new cameras today in the US.
The Sony A58 with an 18-55mm kit lens is priced at $598 and should be available in April. It is available for pre-order here at B&H Photo.
The NEX-3N with an 18-55mm kit lens is priced at $498 and should also be available in April. The NEX-3N is available fore pre-order here at B&H Photo (it’s also available in white).
Canon really missed the mark on the EOS M that was introduced last summer. The camera had the potential to be the next big thing in the mirrorless market; however, the sluggish AF system killed any chances of that.
