The new Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro DX lens is now shipping for Nikon DX DSLRs (like the D7100). Check it out here at B&H Photo.
It’s expected to start shipping in Canon mount next month.
DxO Labs has rated the best lenses for the Nikon D600 according to their overall scores based on tests in DxOMark. 72 different lenses were tested with the highest score going to the Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4G and the AF-S 85mm f/1.8G lenses both getting a DxOMark score of 40.
It’s interesting to see the dropoff in scores from prime to zoom lenses. The highest rated zoom lens was the Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED with a DxOMark score of 28.

PocketWizard has a new Nikon Power Cable that works with the MiniTT1, Plus III and MultiMAX (w/ USB) transceivers. It will allows these transceivers to draw power from any Nikon DSLR that is equipped with a 10-pin remote port.
The PocketWizard transceivers use little power and, according to PocketWizard, have almost no impact on the camera’s battery life. The Nikon Power Cable (PW-DC-N10) is available for $20. You can find it here at B&H Photo.
Rokinon’s new 16mm f/4 ED AS UMC CS lens is now available for pre-order for $479 with expected availability on August 8. This lens is built for APS-C sensors. As such, the Canon EF-S version offers a field of view equivalent to 25.6mm on a full frame camera. While Nikon, Sony, Fuji X-Series and other APS-C cameras will get a 24mm equivalent field of view. Apple has issued an update to Digital Camera RAW 4.06, which adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11:

The Nikon D7100 is the successor to the popular D7000. As such, it builds on the success of its predecessor as a high resolution prosumer camera. While the D7000 offered a 16.2MP sensor, the D7100 steps up to a 24.1MP sensor and carries on the traditional DX format (APS-C) for the line. [Read more…]
It’s been quite some time since we have heard anything about the Nikon D400. When the D7100 launched, there was a lot of concern that the D400 wouldn’t show up to replace the D300s after all, and that Nikon would allow the D7100 to remain atop the DX camera lineup and the D600 would sit at the low end of the FX line as a gap-bridger to the D800.
New rumors suggest that the D400 was, in fact, pushed back in Nikon’s DSLR line-up in order to allow the D7100 to shine for awhile on its own. Of course, the D7100 is an excellent camera in its own right; however, it is still missing some things that you expect on a proper D300s replacement. [Read more…]
