May 13, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Canon PowerShot A3100 IS is an entry-level digital camera that keeps shooting functions basic, yet delivers great quality images for a camera of its size and price range.  There are no shiny bells and whistles to go along with the camera, but it makes good on its fit into the category of “point and shoot.”

To see whether the Canon A3100 IS delivers enough for your needs, read on. [Read more…]

The Nikon Coolpix P100 is a 10.3 megapixel camera with a massive 26x zoom range, covering an equivalent focal length of 26-678mm.  The P100 is packed with features and cool shooting modes that help set it apart from other cameras on shelf.  To see whether all these features add up to a camera that’s right for you, read on. Nikon P100 Video Sample at 240 fps

April 2, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The above video was shot with a Nikon P100 at its highest video frame rate of 240 fps, which provides the cool slow motion effect.  The apparent spontaneous exploding orange and water jug were courtesy of the impact from a 55 grain hollow point .223 caliber bullet traveling at approximately 3000 feet per second.  Even the 240 fps frame rate is not fast enough to capture something traveling that fast. Kodak EasyShare Z950 Review

March 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Kodak Z950 is a 12MP point and shoot camera with a 10x optical zoom.  It has built-in optical image stabilization and features a large 3-inch LCD.  What surprises me about the Z950 is the number of features and amount of control available in a camera at a price point around $200. [Read more…]

Sony H55 Hands-On Review

March 15, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Sony H55

The Sony H55 is a 14.1MP point and shoot camera with a 10x optical zoom, which covers an equivalent range of 25-250mm on a 35mm format camera.  It retails for $249 and is a sort-of middle-of-the-road point and shoot.  It’s not quite as high end as the Sony HX5V; however, it’s still a step up from most of Sony’s W-series of Cyber-shot cameras. Joby Gorillabike (and Some Useful Photo Stuff)

March 14, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Perhaps one of the funniest things I saw at PMA 2010, was Joby’s homegrown bike, which looks like it resulted from Lance Armstrong crashing into the Gorillapod factory.  While Gorillapods are pretty sturdy for cameras, I don’t think we’ll see Lance pedaling this bike up the Col du Tourmalet in the Tour de France this year.  Nonetheless, this is one cool bike. March 12, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Samsung TL350

The Samsung TL350 is a rather compact point and shoot camera that is sort of the little brother to the Samsung TL500.  It features a 10MP CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom and a 3-inch VGA AMOLED screen.  In terms of its specifications, the TL350 is packed full of features and killer numbers across the board. Olympus SP-800UZ Hands-On Review

March 9, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Olympus SP-800UZ

The Olympus SP-800UZ is a 14MP superzoom camera that features a 30x optical zoom lens.  The lens zoom range works out to a 28-840mm equivalent on a full frame camera. To help out with keeping the camera steady, the SP-800UZ offers Olympus’ Dual Image Stabilization, which combines sensor-shift stabilization with high ISO and faster shutter speeds to reduce blur.

The SP-800UZ can also capture 720p HD video, which is easy to activate thanks to a dedicated one-touch video record button on the rear in easy reach of the thumb. [Read more…]
