October 11, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Sony NEX-FS700

Yesterday, I asked you what you want in your next camera. Lots of great responses and interesting ideas. Some of it is feasible for sure in the next generation. Some, not so much.

One thing that I think is coming very soon is 120fps in HD for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. The question is: Who does it first? [Read more…]

Wedding photo booths are pretty common. But a slow-motion video booth? A bit less common.

For this fun video booth, Seattle video production company Super Frog Saves Tokyo set up a RED Epic at 160fps with 4 Konova 900 LED lights for some great action shots at a wedding reception.

The result is a viral hit that is sure to result in trend of slow-motion booths in the near future.

Behind the Scenes: Capturing CrossFit in 480fps Slow Motion

May 21, 2013 By Eric Reagan

CrossFit “delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive.” There are thousands of CrossFit boxes around the world with everyday athletes numbering in the millions. One of the major components of CrossFit is regularly engaging in Olympic weightlifting. A large percentage of workouts contain some form of Oly lifting, as it’s called.

While strength is a component of progressing as an Oly lifter, technique is critical. Without solid technique, you are robbing yourself of your full potential. With that in mind, check out the above slow motion video of two-time Olympian Chad Vaughn (shot on the Sony FS700) as he performs a clean and jerk lift of 315lbs.

Producer, director and editor Heber Cannon of the CrossFit Media Team was kind enough to give us the rundown on the slow motion shoot with Chad Vaughn. Dig in for the full scoop from Heber below. [Read more…]

Phantom Flex at a Kids’ Water Balloon Fight Makes for Some Epic Slow Motion

October 5, 2012 By Eric Reagan

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/50296655 w=640&h=360]

Check about Brad Kremer‘s video above featuring lots of summer fun with the neighborhood kids.  As Brad puts it:

So what do you when you have a day off and a $300k camera package sitting at your house? Invite all of the neighborhood kids and throw a water balloon party of course! Duh!

As summer coms to an end and Autumn begins, kids go back to school and dream of warm days filled with laughter and joy. This short film is a reflection of that dream. Shot with a Phantom Flex it captures the magic of the moment. With frame rates of up to 2564 fps at 1080p we see every detail, every smile and every sparkle in the kids eyes. And that is where the magic lies. Within the hopes and dreams of our children.

This amazing video from a Ted Talk shows off a new camera that can capture video at 1 trillion frames per second.  As a result, the camera can record the movement of light through space.  There are lots of potential applications for this technology as it develops, including medical imaging and military applications.

How do you see this technology being used in the future?
