Sony continues to reign supreme with the advanced compact camera market. It’s most recent camera, the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III, takes the product line a step further by delivering a fast 24-70mm equivalent lens with an f/1.8-2.8 aperture. That’s a full stop better than what the RX100 II lens delivers at 70mm. Of course, you pay for it a bit in the lens size, which further results in a shorter telephoto reach (compared to the 100mm telephoto reach of the RX100 II). Sony Cyber-shot RX100M3 Leaks Out
Sony is expected to announce a refresh to the Sony A77 on May 1, next week. Additionally, it looks like a refresh to the popular Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II might be announced as well given that the Sony RX100M3 was listed in the product manual for the AG-R2 attachment grip (likely a replacement for the AG-R1) alongside the RX100 and RX100 II.

A recently published patent application reveals a new 10-36mm f/1.8-2.8 lens designed for Sony’s 1″ sensor cameras, which results in a 28-100mm equivalent zoom range.
