A recent patent application from Nikon (USPTO No. 14/407,791) reveals that the company has developed a smart water bottle that communicates via NFC with a smart watch (like the Apple Watch) to both measure the fluid intake from the body and can communicate with a health app to determine if the person needs to take in more fluid. Marques Brownlee has published his review of the GoPro HERO4 Session and addresses some important features and concerns about the new cube-shaped camera. You can see the review in the video above.
The HERO4 Session captures 1080/60p video, as well as the taller frame 1920 x 1440p video at 30fps. It can also deliver 720p video at 100 fps for roughly 4x slow motion when conformed to a 24p edit timeline.
ebay (via Adorama) has the GoPro HERO4 Black for $399 (reg. $499) again. The last time this was available at this price, it sold out very quickly. Check it out while it lasts here on ebay.

The Fujifilm Instax 210 is one of the few wide-format instant film cameras on the market today. I picked one up a couple months ago for around $80 with the intent of capturing some fun analog photos this summer.

Canon’s latest 1″ sensor camera, the G3 X with its 25x optical zoom, is now shipping. The G3 X captures 20.2MP JPEG and RAW images as well has 1080p video at up to 60fps. It also offers clean HDMI output, along with a headphone out and mic input. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Here’s another great Photoshop tutorial video from Plearn with Aaron Nace. In the tutorial, he shows us how to use the liquify tool to shape hair, the clone stamp tool to clean up messy areas of the hair and then fill in areas using layer masks to style the hair.
I’m a huge fan of GoPro cameras. My most recent one is the HERO4 Silver. The LCD touchscreen was the perfect addition and it has become my go-to action camera.
Over the past few years, I have found several accessories that make shooting with a GoPro an overall better experience. Some of these are name-brand products and some can be substituted with cheap versions third-parties manufacturers. [Read more…]
