Camera Raw 9 Now Available

Panasonic GH4 Firmware ver. 2.2 Anamorphic Update Now Available

Panasonic GH4 Anamorphic Firmware Update

Panasonic GH4 firmware version 2.2, which provides a 4:3 anamorphic image capture at 3328 x 2496 video resolution, is now available. Additional features in the new firmware update include the ability to manually select a 1/16,000 second shutter speed using the electronic shutter of the GH4.

Additionally, firmware version 2.2 fixes the issue in which video recorded in the AVCHD format gets misdated when importing to some editing software.

Pentax K-3 II Unveiled

Ricoh has announced the new Pentax K-3 II DSLR with the same 24MP sensor, 27-point AF and 8.3fps shooting found in the original K-3. The K-3 II, however, steps up in a number of areas with improved 4.5EV stops of shake reduction, faster AF algorithm, built-in GPS, gyro sensor panning and auto horizon correction.

Additionally, the Pentax K-3 II features a new Pixel Shift Resolution capability that shifts the image sensor by one pixel over 4 frames to allow it to capture all colors at each individual pixel. While the overall resolution doesn’t change (like it does on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II), the color rendition and overall sharpness of the image should be improved. [Read more…]

Blackmagic’s Video Assist is a HDMI/SDI Recorder & 5″ HD Monitor

Alongside a bevy of camera updates last week at NAB 2015, Blackmagic Design also announced its new Video Assist, which is a HDMI and SDI recorder with a 5″ 1920 x 1080 monitor for just $495. And, it records ProRes or DNxHD 10-bit 4:2:2 footage to cheap SD cards.  [Read more…]
