Fuji X20

The new Fuji X20 point and shoot camera is now available and shipping at Adorama and B&H Photo.

I really liked my hands-on time with the X20 at CES 2013. I think this is going to be a solid compact camera that is worthy of its retro flare…

Adorama Rolls Out Flashpoint ZeroGrav Camera Stabilizer

March 19, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Flashpoint ZeroGrav

Adorama has released a new Steadicam-style video camera stabilizer under its Flashpoint in-house brand. The Flashpoint ZeroGrav appears to be a close reproduction of the Glidecam HD-2000, which is about the right build for HDSLR rigs.  Notably, the ZeroGrav has a bigger load range of 2.2-11lbs capacity, while the Glidecam HD-2000 is rated 2-6lbs. Ken Burns: “All Story is Manipulation”

March 18, 2013 By Eric Reagan

[vimeo https://vimeo.com/40972394 w=640&h=360]

“All story is manipulation.”

I love this quote from Ken Burns.

Jean-Luc Godard said “Photography is truth, and cinema is truth 24 times per second.” Ken Burns turns that on its head with his perspective on storytelling, along with his personal inspiration in the stories he chooses to tell.

And it rings so true – even in our photos. We manipulate the audience/viewer based on the story we decide to share – be it a single frame or a feature length production. Regardless of the facts present, we are manipulating those facts based on the facts we choose to include. Whether it is framing, crop, spoken words or something else, our creative vision shapes the stories we tell.

Canon EOS 100D Specs Leak Out

March 17, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Canon EOS-b EOS 100D

It appears that the upcoming EOS-b, Canon EOS 100D (or whatever it will be called) specs have leaked out via Best Buy’s website. These appear to be legit – although the official camera name may not be listed yet and you can expect this to be pulled soon…

Previous indications of a “smaller DSLR” appear to be legit with the camer weighing a full 5 ounces less than the Canon Rebel T4i and measures 3.6″ (height) x 4.6″ (width) x 2.7″ (depth).

Best Buy EOS 100D or EOS-b

The new EOS model should carry a retail price of $799 with a EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens, which further confirms the EF-S mount and that this is NOT the follow-up to the EOS M. [Read more…]
