Canon SX160 IS
It looks like a pair of Canon’s new point and shoot models have found their way onto the web a little early. The Canon PowerShot SX160 IS looks to feature a 16MP sensor along with a 16x optical zoom lens. This should replace the current PowerShot SX150 IS, which sports a 14MP sensor, 12x zoom and 720p video. [Read more…]
Samyang Optics has launched three new cinema lenses for Nikon and Canon mount HDSLRs.
These new cine lenses accompany the existing Samyang 8mm T3.8 Fisheye cine lens and feature “follow-focus gearing on focus and decoupled aperture. Such alterations allow the user to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture / depth of field whist filming. Another feature is the visibility of the aperture and focus scale on the side of the lens.”
The new lenses should be available in August/September 2012.
This just makes sense. With all the HDSLR cameras that have been introduced over the past few years, I sort of expected to see more of this sooner (I think Canon’s 320EX is the only first-party unit so far). [Read more…]
Redrock Micro has addes new cinema camera bundles to its line for the Sony FS700/FS100, Sony F3 and Panasonic AF100. There are models for both studio rigs and shoulder rigs for each camera.

The $200 savings on the Fuji X100 expires August 11, 2012. Until then you can find the 2011 Camera of the Year for $999 instead of the normal $1199 price. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
The lastest rumors of Canon’s lower-priced full frame DSLR suggests a Canon EOS 6D badge and an October unveiling date. Additional rumors emphasize that the focus is on making the full frame camera not only more affordable but also a smaller overall package.
Previous rumors suggested this camera would essentially work out to be a full frame version of the Canon 7D with a 22MP CMOS sensor and a sub-$2000 price point.
All of these rumors appear to be leading up to yet another massive throwdown between Canon’s budget full frame shooter and the Nikon D600. Expect more coverage on the Canon 6D (or whatever it ends up being named) as we creep up on Photokina 2012 and PhotoPlus 2012.
