When I first saw this list for extended warranty options showing the Canon 1Ds Mark IV, I figured it was a typo since it’s pretty common to see the 1D Mark IV mistakenly listed as the 1Ds Mark IV (even on some of Canon’s sites).

However, this was actually a separate listing from the 1D Mark IV and the 1Ds Mark III, already in the chart above.  And, the 1Ds Mark IV listing was a different price. [Read more…]

The Induro BHS-Series Ballheads are a new breed of affordable tripod heads with QR plates and built-in bubble levels.  The BHS0 supports 10.3 lbs.  The BHS1 supports 12.8 lbs.  And, the BHS2 supports up to 18.7 lbs.

The new ballheads range in price from $52 to $76 retail and are available from B&H Photo.

Sony A35 Availability Update

The Sony A35 now appears to be widely in stock and shipping.  The latest translucent-mirror alternative to DSLRs looks to head up the entry-level end of Sony’s Alpha line with reports that the flagship Sony A77 will be announced next week.

The A35 sports a 16MP CMOS sensor and fast live view autofocus unlike any other manufacturer has delivered in a DSLR.  It also records full 1920 x 1080 AVCHD video.

For all of its faults, Final Cut Pro X offers much better native file compatibility than its predecessor.  However, all files aren’t equal when working in Final Cut Pro X.  Some files, like the .MTS files produced from AVCHD video capture, require you to take a couple of extra steps to get them into FCP X.
